Sri Chinmoy

Sri Chinmoy

Spiritual leader, author, musician, artist, humanitarian and athlete, Sri Chinmoy lived in New York for over forty years, after he came to America from his native India in 1964.  He traveled extensively to offer concerts, and met with many world leaders and personalities to share his message of global harmony.

Sri Chinmoy had a special love for Philadelphia, which he called the “spiritual capital of America”.   His free performances in the city included two concerts at the Kimmel Center in June 2006, as well as a Peace Concert for 10,000 people at the CoreStates Spectrum in 1996.  He passed away in October 2007.
